Wael Ghonim is the Google executive who helped jumpstart Egypt’s democratic revolution … with a Facebook page memorializing a victim of the regime’s violence. Speaking at TEDxCairo, he tells the inside story of the past two months, when everyday Egyptians showed that “the power of the people is stronger than the people in power.”
Amr is genuinely passionate about Information Technology, social media and computers in general and is studying Computer Science at the American University in Cairo (AUC). As a young Egyptian man who is addicted to social media, he witnessed and participated in the Egyptian Revolution, which started on January 25, 2011 and led to the ouster of Egypt’s president, Hosni Mubarak. It was the first successful revolution in history to employ the use of the social media platforms.
